The Chiari Institute is the world's first comprehensive, multidisciplinary center for the management of patients suffering from Chiari malformation, a rare structural condition that affects the cerebellum, as well as syringomyelia, a chronic disease of the spinal cord, and other related disorders.

Patients travel from all over the world to receive the multidisciplinary care and cutting-edge surgery that is unique to the Chiari Institute, which is a center of excellence for adult as well as pediatric patients, patients who are often long sufferers of debilitating symptoms.

Our goals at the Chiari Institute are to continue to provide first-rate care, to educate the community about these conditions and to perform the research that keeps us at the forefront.

Your support can help us bring the most advanced treatment to our patients and further important research. Key development projects for the future include:

  • Research studies focused on surgical outcomes and cognitive disturbances associated with Chiari malformation.
  • Expansion of housing facilities for out-of-state and out-of-country visitors and their families traveling to the Institute for surgery.
  • Establishment of a fund for eligible patients who cannot afford the costly medical expenses associated with Chiari malformation.
